 "Truckin' For Kids"

Sunday October 3rd, 2010

 

Another successful convoy of trucks ending in a day of fun at the Narrabri Racecourse.

Thank You to all who attended to support our kids wards at the local Narrabri, Wee Waa & Boggabri Hospitals.

 

Congratulations to Ross and the team for their work in organising the event.

 

 

Wee Waa Relay for Life

Friday 2nd & Saturday 3rd September, 2011

The Wee Waa Relay for Life kicked off on Friday night at 6pm with the official ceremonies, and the Survivors & carers leading the walkers out on the first of many laps of the sporting complex oval. There were over 30 teams, with 506 registered participants.

 

2 MAX FM once again entered our team called 'Maximum Madness', consisting of 13 registered members, 10 of whom walked.

 

Special thanks to Julie Dowleans (Team Captain) & Frank Crump for organising our team. Thanks also to Tony & Kay Parker who came down on the Friday night to participate & President Anthony Welchman who came down and braved the early Saturday morning walk.

 

Other walkers who took our team through the night included Robert Proctor, Jen Wallis & her sister Lee who was visiting from Orange to participate, Michelle, Bec & Kay Gray. A couple of us snuck in a couple of hours sleep/rest in the wee hours - Thanks team for a really great effort.

 

We ran a raffle & a '100' club as our fundraisers, with prizes being very kindly donated by our very loyal listeners/supporters, Archie from the Balo Square Newsagency in Moree (Book Hamper) & Fay Mylan from Narrabri (knitted rug). Our music suppliers for CD's for 3rd & 4th prizes.

 

We raised a total of $775 from the raffle & 100 club, which brought our total team banking for Maximum Madness to $1035.

 

Thank you to Julie & Frank for selling our Raffle Tickets in Moree & in Wee Waa with Kay, also thank you to Rhonda Welchman, Tony & Kay Parker for selling tickets down the street in Narrabri.

 

2 MAX FM once again provided the music to keep the walkers entertained & on their feet throughout the night.

Once again a big Thank You to all who participated in the Wee Waa Relay and helping to raise in excess of $30,000 for a very worthwhile cause, the Cancer Council who one day in the near future will be able to find a cure/prevention of this insidious disease.

 

 

 New Premises

 

We have purchased our new premises at 73 Barwan Street, Narrabri, and are currently in the process of fitting out this building . 

 

We are still awaiting advice/approval from the Shire regarding a fire wall, also awaiting the framework to erect the internal structures for the offices, studios etc.

 

If you would like to assist in this project, we would be most appreciative of any help available.  Please contact a committee member or call the station to lend your assistance, whether it be as a builders labourer, painter, or general handyperson.

Annual General Meeting 2010

 

2Max FM held their AGM on Monday 18th October with a good attendance of members and presenters.

 

President Anthony Welchman presented his report on the running of 2Max FM over the past year, showing a very successful year for the station.

 

This year saw 2Max FM purchase their own premises in Barwan Street and our license has been granted for a further five years.

 

The annual Barry Hogan Memorial Award for Most Improved New Announcer was presented to Emily Gillham. Emily is one of our youngest announcers who travels from Boggabri each Tuesday to present her popular program "Gillham's Gig"

 New Announcers - October 2010

 

We have a new announcer in training. 

 

Frank Crump from Moree is currently training on Wednesday afternoons, 4-6pm, and is going well.

Frank tells us he is thoroughly enjoying his time with 2 MAX FM and we look forward to Frank becoming a fully fledged announcer.

 

Welcome Frank.

 

We also have a young girl from Wee Waa, Tarisha, who is also interested in becoming one of our announcers. Tarisha has been in to the studios a couple of times to see what it's all about and we look forward to Tarisha also joining the team!

 

 

New Segments

Tune in weekdays to get your dose of 'The Castlereagh Line' a long running Australian radio serial.

The daily episode of 'The Castlereagh Line' can be heard at 10:15am and again at 5:30pm Monday to Friday on your local station 2Max FM.

 

Also new to 2Max FM, the Merry Medic Doctor James Wright. Listen in at 8:10am, 12:30pm and 4:45pm 7 days a week for the Doctors helpful health tips.

 

Hook, Line & Sinker, a short segment on fishing tips on how to catch, clean and cook the big fish, can be heard 4 times each Saturday: 8:30am, 12:30pm, 4:30pm and 7:30pm.

Business House Bowls Competition

 

Business House Bowls has commenced once again - 2Max FM proudly sports three teams every Thursday evening at the Narrabri Bowling Club.

A fun evening of friendly competition where everyone's a winner!

 2MaxFM Convoy for Kids 2009

 

Sunday October 4th saw the running of another successful Convoy for Kids along the highway through Narrabri.

Over 90 vehicles participated in the convoy which streamed north along the Newell from the 2Max FM studios to the Narrabri Racecourse.

 

Thank You to all who participated in the event, all proceeds go to the local Narrabri, Wee Waa & Boggabri Hospitals Children's Wards.

 

Last year, $2000 was given to each of the hospitals and this year seems to have been just as successful.

 

Congratulations to Ross Gribble and his committee for their hardwork in organising such a wonderful event!

 

 

 

Back to Wee Waa weekend

June 28-29th 2009

 

Jeff Brown, Ricky Shipp, Dan Manning and Ted Egan entertained for the weekend and visitors enjoyed a campoven dinner, tag-a-long tour, bush poetry, the Namoi Echo museum displays and just catching up with old friends.

Another successful broadcast on Saturday 27th - thanks to those who helped out. A great weekend was had by all - congratulations to the Wee Waa Historical Society for organising the event.

 

 

 

2Max FM Open Day and Biggest Morning Tea

June 13th, 2009

(in support of the Cancer Council)

Over 120 people attended another great morning tea. Thanks to all who helped out with supplying morning tea, cooking the BBQ and helping out on the day. Thanks also to Paul Beattie for donating the load of wood, Fay for donating the lovely knitted rug and R.W. & J.A. Young Mechanical for donating a voucher.

$1638 was raised for the Cancer Council - Good Job!

75th Annual Wee Waa Show

May 23rd, 2009

 

Another great event for Wee Waa. 2Max FM had a static display at the show and our big yellow outside broadcast van particpated in the street parade. Thanks again to all who helped out on the day.

Boggabri Drover's Campfire

Anzac Weekend, 2009

The Boggabri Drover's Campfire was a great success with over 220 caravans and campers from all over Australia attending.

 

2Max FM broadcast live from the event on Saturday 25th April, we would like to thank all of our listeners who came up and said g'day. Thanks for listening.

 

Tom Maxwell was the entertainment for the Friday night and Saturday evening saw the Boggabri locals produce a series of skits which kept the crowd in stitches. A great weekend was had by all!

 

The cooks did a great job feeding the masses, with over 500 meals served on Saturday night alone.

 

The 2010 Drover's Campfire will be held from 24-26th April. Anyone with a caravan, camper trailer, 4wd, tent or even a swag are welcome to attend for a weekend of great camping fun!

Boggabri Relay for Life 2009

 

The Boggabri Relay for Life was held on the weekend of 28-29th March 2009. What a great success this was, with over $37,000 raised for the Cancer Council.

 

2Max FM's team Maximum Madness was once again in form and walking well. We managed to raise $1142. Many thanks to our four walkers from Boggabri, Helen Gillham, Marlene Evans, & Marlene's two grandchildren Liana and Judd.

 

2Max FM provided music to keep the night shift walkers going. Thanks to the Max FM announcers, their partners and friends who made the weekend a great success.

Wee Waa Relay for Life 2008

2Max FM's Relay team "Maximum Madness" raised $570 from our raffle, 100 Club and Lucky Dips, for the Cancer Council. The raffle was a hand knitted rug kindly made and donated by a very loyal supporter of 2Max FM, Fay - Thanks Fay.

2Max FM was able to Broadcast throughout the night with the help of Volunteers and Announcers who supported the event.

Wee Waa Relay for Life had 42 teams totaling approx 500 people involved and raising more than $35,000 (more to be tallied). This is an enormous effort from a small town of approx 2000 people.

 

We must not forget our entrant in the "Miss Relay" competition and a big thank you to Carol for preparing our entrant "Colleen" (Colin Armstrong).

Narrabri Convoy for Kids

Over $6500 was raised for Narrabri, Wee Waa & Boggabri Hospitals Kids Wards.

 

Thank You to all Trucks and Drivers who travelled to be apart of the event. We had over 70 Trucks and other vehicles in the convoy.

Following the Convoy a meeting was held to form 'The Narrabri Truckers Association Social Club'. This organisation is the driving force behind 'Narrabri Convoy for Kids', 'Country Under the Stars' & The Narrabri Truckies Memorial which is coming along slowly.

Held on Saturday 28th June 2008, the day was a great success with over 120 people attending and enjoying a relaxed cuppa and some yummy homemade cakes and slices.

OAM Awarded to Committee Member Mr. Max Pringle

 

Congratulations to Mr Max Pringle (Committee Member) who was named in the Queens Birthday Honours 2008.

 

Max was awarded an OAM for his 'Service to the community of Narrabri through a range of agricultural, aged care, historical and social welfare organisations'

 

In september, Max attended the Ceremony at Government House in Sydney where he was presented with his Medals & Certificate.

These awards are presented at the Tamworth Country Music Festival each year.

 

Categories include: Best Female Vocal, Best Male Vocal, Best Group or Duo, Best Song, Best Bush Ballad, Best Album, Most Promising Future Star, Most Popular DJ & Most Popular Radio Station or Program. In 2007, 2Max FM were named in the Top 5 for Most Popular Radio Station and Beccy Gray in the Top 10 for Most Popular DJ. Again in 2008, 2Max FM & Beccy were named in the Top 10 for these categories. Unfortunately , we were pipped at the post. 2009 was more successful for 2Max FM, Beccy Gray was named Most Popular DJ!

Barry Hogan Memorial Award

 

This award is in Memory of Barry Hogan, a long serving announcer and mate of 2Max FM.

The barry hogan award is awarded at every AGM to "The Most Improved New Announcer"

 

Shaun Waugh was awarded this trophy in 2008/09. Congratulation Shaun!

 

The trophy is a microphone that Barry used and is mounted with the names of previous recipients.
